A set published in 1961. It has been translated into at least thirty eight languages.

Originally written as a sequel to his children's work. The trilogy developed into a much larger work.

An epic high fantasy series by popular author J R R Tolkien. Following the adventures of Frodo the Hobbit and his friends as they go on a quest to rid the world of the evil power of the One Ring of Sauron and facing many obstacles.

With the original and uncommon sixth state slipcase. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally sound, with shelfwear and edge wear as well as slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The spine is slightly cocked.

The back strip the The Fellowship of the Ring has disattached to the rear joint, now laid down. The slipcase is sound with shelfwear and edge wear throughout.

Internally, hinges are slightly strained to the tithe page to The Fellowship of the Ring, and pages seventeen to twenty of The Return of the King are disbound but present. Otherwise, binding is generally firm. Minor inscription by a previous owner to the front free endpaper to The Fellowship of the Ring. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with three folding maps pasted to the rear of each volume.

Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones.

Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair.

As with good only above but with other faults. Leaving a compromised copy even after repair. Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.
