Lord of the Rings, 3 vol. First deluxe edition with original paper covered slip case, folding maps, original black buckram, spines guilt.

Publisher: George Allen and Unwin. I have found out that this was one of 1000 sets signed in 1963 by the author on each title page. In 1963 I was given this set by my then girl friend who worked for Allen and Unwin in their London office. The front page of each book had been ripped out and I was told this was to show it was an imperfect set. I have owned this set of books for nearly 60 years and think it is now time to part with them. The three volumes are in reasonable condition and have been read many times by myself. All the maps folded inside are in good condition. The paper covered slip case is still in one piece but the illustrations on the sides are damaged and torn.

Place marker tapes are present and useable but the front page, where each book was signed, has been roughly torn out. The guilt on the spines and one of the black buckrum covers have noticable faded but all other pages are present and in reasonably good condition. (Please examine all of the photos).
